BIDEOLOGY (Trailer) from Arielle Loren

“All the hype about closeted ”down-low” brothers a few years back sent a chill through the bedrooms of quite a few women and men. [Arielle Loren] explores lessons heterosexual women can learn from men who don’t have a fixed sexual orientation.” ~ TheRoot.com

BIDEOLOGY is a compelling, feature-length documentary that explores women dating bisexual men. Originally conceptualized as a web series, The Bi-deology Project, it sparked an important conversation on the “heterosexual” relationship, as many assume it involves two strictly heterosexual individuals. What do women expect from male partners attracted to both sexes? How are their belief systems informed? In the media, there are limited references to male bisexuality, leaving the “down low” as the public’s favorite synonym. The cast of BIDEOLOGY exposes the diversity in “heterosexual” relationships, and what all women can learn from men who don’t have a straight sexual identity.

BIDEOLOGY premieres in the Spring of 2012. Film festival locations coming soon! Follow us on Twitter @Bideology

(Note: BIDEOLOGY and The Bi-deology Project are two separate works and do not contain overlapping footage)

DIRECTOR

Arielle Loren first thought of directing and producing BIDEOLOGY after falling in love with her best male friend, who happened to be bisexual. After discussing the conundrum with women in the New York area, she found that the experience not only bewildered most, but also created an important conversation about male bisexuality, “heterosexual” relationships, and dating preferences. At New York University, she produced a senior thesis, focusing on the African-American female perspective, entitled “Proper Heterosexism: African-American Female Voices in the Media on African-American Male Bisexuality and the Down Low.” She hopes that BIDEOLOGY will bring more women from all backgrounds into the conversation and create a tool for women dating men of various sexual orientations. Arielle Loren is a writer and filmmaker that offers real-life commentary on women’s issues, sexuality, health, and travel. She is also a full-time entrepreneur. For more on Arielle, go to http://ArielleLoren.com
